Hey guys,
so today I decided to go get some new ink haha. I got two nautical stars on my chest.
FUCKING OWW.
the pain was kind of rediculous, seeing that my first tattoo [on the shoulder] didn't hurt much at all.
Whatever, it was worth it. :D
( Onward! )

Hey all :) I'm on holiday in CA which was totally unplanned, and exhausting but good to catch up with family and a few friends. If you're in S. CA and can get to Irvine (OC) let me know!

I'm having a lot of difficulty now with forcing myself to come out to my family. I've just started hormones so it's extra frustrating to still have them call me the wrong name, wrong pronoun, and to be unable to share a huge part of my life with them.
How were you able to work yourself up to being able to come out to your family? Any advice from people with very religious and/or conservative families would be especially appreciated.
Although I'm not religious, my family is... would it be inappropriate or out of line to include scripture along with interpretations of how this scripture relates to trans people not automatically being against the principles of Christianity? Or would it just be better to focus my energy into more secular "okay so your relative is trans here's a nice trans 101" literature?
I know there's never really a good time to come out, but this year has been especially bad for my family and as irrational as it is I feel like I'm just adding to it if I come out... even though in a few months my voice may change noticeably and I really don't want to lie to them about why my voice is different.

I was going through some old posts and found a bunch of guys are using 22 gauge needles or smaller. I'm using 18g 1.5" needles, and while my first injection wasn't bad, if I can get away with something smaller, that might be nice.
So, do you think the 18g is overkill?

Hey
A bit of background:
I'm Jamie, and I'm 18. I'm pretty much socially transitioned, I'm out in most walks of my life (college and friends, partially church) but not really with family (my parents know and don't accept it). This year I've attended college with a male name (a vague corruption of my birthname) and college are prepared to write a letter confirming that. I've also been with a counsellor since February, who works with gay men (not so much with trans people). Recently I was referred to Charing Cross GIC by CAMHS (who did that just before discharging me). I have since gotten a letter from CHX saying they need to apply to my PCT for funding and send me some form before they can put me on the waiting list. I have heard from other people that the waiting list is now about 8 months.
1. How long am I likely to need to wait before getting on the waiting list even? (How long does the funding procedure take?)
2. Is the waiting list really that long?
3. Will they require any (more) counselling pre-T?
4. Will they count this year as living in-role (name not legally changed, but college willing to back up that I attended as male)?
5. I plan to go to university next year and will be financially self-sufficient, no parental support. Will CHX demand that my parents agree with my going on T before they prescribe, if I am not dependent in any way on them?
6. How do I handle going to uni (especially when my first choice has accommodation where you share a shower with the neighboring room and must be with someone of the same sex) when I intend to go stealth, pre medical transition?
Thanks guys
J

I'm not sure this is one hundred percent accurate, being as I'm just a queer little thing and not actually a boy (or really much of a girl, to be honest), but I got some new clothes for giftmas, and decided to dress more specifically gendered than usual, (I maintain jeans and a t-shirt is pretty damn neutral) and this is what came out.

Hi, I started at the end of July, and since then I've had 6 periods. (I started directly after ending my period)
I started on Gel and used it for 3 months. Then I switched to injections. 100mg/2 weeks, and then we upped it to 100mg a week. I've been on that for a month. For the gel I was on 1 packet of testim 5g per day.
I'm beyond frustrated. Have any of you been able to get a hysto covered by insurance? I'm still listed as female on mine and have blue cross blue shield.
What's the turn around on hystos, as in how quickly can you book them if they will be covered?
I can't handle another one of these.
I'm in the Boston Area.
Sorry, i didn't check the tags on this, I needed to vent.
Thanks guys.

I am having sinus surgery in January and am wondering whether I should talk to the admitting nurse before I go in for surgery. I pass and have my name changed but have not had any surgery yet. My doctor surgeon knows and said it shouldn't be a problem for the hospital. I would rather not have to go into anything as the gender on my records says F, but places never notice that. They told me a nurse will call me the night before surgery so I'm just wondering if I should tell her. I hate going into all that, but I don't want to deal with any excessive weirdness when I'm getting prepped. Any advice?
Haaaayyyyy.
I just finished another semester of college :D
And apparently, the last time I posted here was in August. The only thing that's changed for me transition-wise is that I finally changed my name legally :)
